The Long Buck - A 23-point Non-typical Whitetail [UPDATED]
I got an email this morning from Mike Long telling me his brother Wayne shot a monster! You could imagine that running a bowhunting website I hear this all the time, but when Mike told me it was a 23-point non-typical, I knew this deer would be different.
Wayne Long arrowed this huge non-typical buck this morning on opening day of the Northern Zone. It was shot in the town of Rodman, just southeast of Watertown in Jefferson County.
Long was hunting on a friend's land when the 23-point beast gave him a shot opportunity. I don't know much about the story yet, but I'm hoping to find out the details soon. More to follow.
UPDATE: The Long buck will not be entered into the record books. After further investigation by the NYS Big Buck Club and the NYS DEC it was discovered that Wayne Long shot this deer on a private deer farm and because this is not a wild deer it is not eligible for the record books. Wayne Long was charged by the DEC with filing a false statement and the investigation is still in progress.

Hate to be a skeptic, but I was told by a credible source that this deer was shot inside a high fence. Is that the case?
ReplyDeleteIt's been confirmed now that this buck was shot on a deer farm: http://www.watertowndailytimes.com/article/20121003/NEWS03/710039822
ReplyDeleteWhat a loser to try and pass this deer off as a true record whitetail. How dumb can you be? He didnt even take the time to fully gather a credible story. Did he really thing a new poss non typ record wasn't going to be investigated? Brains are lacking on this guy!
ReplyDeleteSometimes people do dumb things...hopefully that will be the last time it happens this year.
