I met Mark Seacat back in November 2010 at GORE's facility in Delaware. I was there with a group of outdoor bloggers to take part in a field test of GORE Optifade Concealment. Since then I've followed Mark's projects and make sure to catch up with him each winter at the ATA Show.



In his latest project, Searching for West, Mark shares the story of his 2011 elk season as he leaves his wife and 10 day old son, West, to pursue elk in the backcountry. In a delicate balance between father, husband and hunter, Make must decide how much to sacrifice.

This film is like none other. Nothing in the hunting world compares. Working with the makers of my favorite snowboarding film, The Art of Flight, Mark and the crew have pushed the limits with this film and leaped over the bar - this isn't just another hunting short, this is cinematography at its finest.
