I came across these pictures on ADKHunter.com and thought they would be nice to share with you. Each year the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife conducts a black bear monitoring program. The biologists set out on snowmobiles to located denned bears that have been radio collared. Then, they dig through the deep snow to find the den, sedate the bear and then do a physical examination of the bear and her cubs.

It's important to monitor bear populations and health. Glad that's what this was about.

They are some cut little guys.
